CBT / Direct Access Motorcycle training at Mallory Park
Direct Access motorcycle training enables riders to gain a full UK motorcycle licence. This means you can go directly onto large capacity motorcycles safely, as long as your training is as exhaustive and detailed as it should be.
At Circuit Based Training, we have the experience to deliver quality bike training for every new rider, helping you to pass the bike test with confidence. We don't believe that "adequate" training, covering just the basics of motorcycling is good enough. Through our work with the racing community, the motorcycling press and Police forces throughout the country, we have developed the best Direct Access training programme in the UK. Talk to any motorcyclist and they will tell you what we teach is great for getting a test pass but more importantly, it will keep you out of A&E.
This motorcycle training course is designed for people who want to take their time and learn at a steady pace, with little or no pressure. The first week is aimed at bike control, much in the same way as the 5 day course, but without the impending pressure of a motorcycle test at the end of the first week. CBT training is thorough and calm, with the use of the race track you can study your techniques of how to ride a motorcycle without the fear of any traffic to bother you.
During your motorbike course you can relax, gain confidence and understand of how to ride a motorbike safely. You can take a more long term view of passing your motorcycle test, rather than having the feeling of being rushed to get it all done in one week. The benefits of taking a few extra days soon become obvious.
Our direct access motorbike course incorporates counter steering for faster corners. This is fully explained and demonstrated on track. We help you to fully understand how to ride your new bike safely. Our motorcycle training will prepare you for the bike test and more importantly, for the years ahead, when you have to make split second decisions to ensure your safety.
Accident prevention is the key, so we will ensure you know how to stop a bike mid corner, while you are leant over between 50 - 70mph. This will totally change your depth perception when it comes to cornering and keep you 100% safe. This is a skill we first introduced to our direct access motorcycle course in 1997, we have had many clients call us over the years thanking us for including this on their bike course. It really does make a huge difference when you are on your own bike.
This motorbike crash course will teach you how to accelerate properly for the road. We can do this on the race track so you understand how to use the gears on your CBT test. You should be confidently accelerating away from junctions and getting up to 50-70 mph. This is exhilerating but also quite daunting. You will need time to get used to this and it may take some clients longer than others. That's OK. Everyone gets there in the end, we concentrate on technique rather than speed at all times. Our facilities will help you to improve and build confidence through carefully structured training schedules, demonstration and pillion rides. This is your tailored motorcycle training course, run at a pace that suits your style. Your CBT test can be completed over a few days, then you can work towards passing your module 1 bike test and module 2 bike test under full instrction from your DVSA instructor.
During your motorcycle training you'll learn how it feels to stop a motorcycle from 70mph. Direct Access training at Mallory Park helps you undertsand how this feels, building your confidence gradually. Research shows that not being able to stop a bike properly leads to accidents. Practice this essential skill for as long as you need, to ensure your safety before you go onto the roads. It really is an area that needs working on, the race track will give you this unique opportunity. This experience gained during your motorcycle training course will help when it comes to the bike test and for your years of riding ahead.
You'll learn the correct procedures for the module 1 bike test and the module 2 bike test. These are essential skills for the road designed to keep you safe at all times. We can duplicate the Mod 1 motorbike test on the race track to help you with Manual Handling, Slalom, Figure of 8, Slow speed ride, U turn, Controlled stop, Emergency stop and Swerve / recover. With our facilities you'll be familiar with every aspect of the test before you venture onto public roads. The added benefit is that you'll have far greater control and confidence to handle any road situation with our exhaustive motorcycle training programme.
Your motorbike training will cover all these areas to give you a broad, enjoyable experience. The whole course is structured to ensure you are confident of getting out onto the public road at the right stage. We also want to ensure that you are on the right bike, so you'll be able to choose from a Suzuki bandit 650, Triumph Street Triple R, Triumph Speed triple, Yamaha MT09, Yamaha MT07, Yamaha R1, Honda CBF 1000 or Suzuki GSX 1250. As long as it has an "L" plate it's yours to ride.
Only when you feel happy on the track between 0-70mph would we consider going out onto public roads. Then, because you know you are in FULL control of the bike, we can cover far more miles safely. You'll then be on your way towards getting your full motorbike licence.
The full motorbike test for module 1 and module 2, takes place at the end of your direct access motorbike course. With this, more considered approach, you can spend more time on all the areas that really matter to you and have time to reflect on your progress. It's also good to take a couple of days off, because it can be quite exhausting. Some clients prefer to be totally flexible and arrange their training over a 3 or 4 week period, it doesn't have to be done in consecutive days. You tell us what you want from your motorcycle training course and we'll dedicate an instructor to you, over whatever time structure suits. This is tailored, bespoke motorcycle training, from CBT to full bike licence, let's help you get the best out of it. You've waited years to ride a motorcyle, why would you want to rush it?
