Advanced Cornering course

Donington Park, Derbyshire DE74 2RP

Using the Launch Pad at Donington provides each rider with the opportunity to choose their own line going round a corner without the feeling or fear of runnning wide onto the grass! With such a vast area of tarmac it doesn't matter if you choose to run wide because there are no kerbs or gravel traps to run into, just more of the same tarmac. This allows each rider to relax more and concentrate on the real job of understanding bike control.

This course concentrates on the finer aspects of cornering, to enable each rider to become more consistent in their assessment and execution of cornering at  speed, along with hazard avoidance halfway round corners at up to 100 mph!

Bike magazine described the course as “Excellent value for money with superb instruction”, awarding the course a five star rating.

The day is designed to build confidence and is tailored to your own specific needs. We enable each rider to become more consistent in their assessment and execution of cornering at speed in a variety of bends. At Silverstone circuit we will be using Chapel, Stowe, Vale and Club corners as these lend themselves perfectly to help you get your cornering technique absolutely right. The emphasis is on making you a more confident rider by using the facilities as your own personal testing ground!

The day begins with a comprehensive classroom briefing on the art of cornering. Then it’s on to the track with your instructor who will work with you to master counter steering, pivot steering, zones of vision, rates of turn, body position, throttle control, gear ratios and traction levels through the turn. All round rider competence and bike handling is the key to moving forward.

  • Your motorcycle must be safe and roadworthy.
  • Full motorcycle clothing must be worn, leathers or otherwise (knee sliders are optional).

A maximum of 20 riders are allowed on each course which ensures high safety standards and your personal enjoyment. Video is used from several different angles to help you get the most from the day.

Remember, this is not a track day where the ambulance gets more track time than the bikes! This is a day to improve your technique and understanding of cornering in a safe controlled environment with limited numbers of riders to allow you maximum time, space and safety. Instructors will guide you to achieve your individual goals.

Donington Park course times 1pm until 5pm

Hi guys, just got back from your course. What a fantastic day! I learnt more from Sean in one day, than years of riding alone on the road. My advice to bikers thinking of upgrading your bike, forget it! upgrade yourself and get some circuit based training. thanks again guys.
